Kel and I met as freshmen at Bishop Noll, not in the 8th grade spelling bee as my dad used to say - we were both at that spelling bee but did not start our friendship there. Kelly and I would laugh about it over our almost 40 year friendship every time he said it, and he did say it every time we were together! She was the one constant friend in my life over all of that time. Friends come and go as we move along in life, but Kel was always there. We might not have seen each other often over the years but we kept in touch with calls, texts and emails and visits when we could. Thinking back at all of her health texts and emails, I have no idea how she stayed so positive through all she went through. She was determined to be there for as much of life as she could with Andy and her kids, and she was. They were all so important to her. I knew Andy was the one from the first time I saw them together at Miami - he made her so happy and they shared so many adventures together! Kelly also threw herself into being a Mom just like she did everything else, and she was really good at it, just like she was really good at everything else! Kyle, Jacob and Corrine, anytime you want to hear some stories about your Mom as a young adult, I am happy to share them - we had so much fun together. And we also shared so many memories as parents, especially this last year as both of our girls were going off to college - Kel was constantly checking in on application status and wanted to hear the crazy stories about Bama rush - even sent me the Wall Street Journal article on it lol. I will miss you every day, my friend, but know you are in a better place. Say hi to your Mom for me - I hope you are up there enjoying some time together!
